Good news?

I got my posting on the 17th.

It's called naval combat system operator.

Sounds pretty slack. I don't mind not getting into sispec.

Wait a minute. I never did want to go sispec. I prayed so hard that I wouldn't get into a command school. Right after I put yes for the EI survey, I knew I had made a mistake. I spent the remaining BMT days brooding over my folly, and to make matters worse, my section mates were so bleeding sure that I would get into sispec. Ha. Now they are the ones who are going to enjoy the five-months chalet.

Prosperity makes friends, adversity tries them.

Sunday, March 5, 2006 by Kelvin

A levels results were out on the first. As expected, my grades were horrifying, but I'm already past the stage of despair. Since what's done cannot be undone, the only choice I have now is to apply for a course and pray that I am accepted.

It's only two more days to my passing out parade, but I ain't the least happy. Once Tuesday is gone, I'll not be able to see my platoon mates as often as now. The thought of being posted to an infantry unit has killed my anticipation of my block leave. Route marches, punishments and more route marches. I had my graduation 24km march on Friday, and until now, I still can't believe I actually managed to slog through.

If I had a choice to serve my 2 years in Whiskey 4, I'd say yes. Once I step out of Whiskey, there will be no more welfare, no more care for soldiers. More importantly, the friends that I had made will start to drift apart, and I'll have to start all over in my unit.

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
